Good Morning Campers!
Or at least it feels like camping. On water. They call it “anchoring”. Or “Gunkholing”. Looking for a place to pull over, lower your anchor and stay awhile. We had a great night. Quiet and peaceful. A great place to stop just before the Cumberland River and onward to Barkley Lock and Dam.
We continued up the Ohio until the Cumberland River to go over to Kentucky Lake via the Barkley Lock. This is an extra 25 miles but we read the Barkley Lock is easier to get through than the Kentucky Lock. Along the way, the scenery is trees or gravel pits.
We had a stowaway for just a few minutes. We have seen butterflies cross our bow this past week especially in the afternoon. Yes, they are headed south as well. We were happy to give it a rest from its weary travels.
We were lucky! There was a boat in the lock already. One of our travel Loopers went ahead and let them know 2 more Loopers were on their way. When we rounded the corner, the doors were open and we just cruised right in. Great timing!! Thanks for waiting.
Floating bollards made this ride up pretty easy.
Around the corner and there is our destination. Green Turtle Bay Marina. A welcome sight after the long days on the Mississippi, Illinois, Ohio, and Cumberland Rivers.
